About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Operational Excellence Manager to join our Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) team at American Express Services Europe Limited.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the GMNS Operational Excellence team, which is responsible for delivering sound risk expertise and insights to support business priorities while fulfilling internal and external control and compliance expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and Govern the New Product Governance Program: Oversee the development and implementation of new products and services, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements and align with business objectives.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct thorough risk assessments of new products and services, identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies to minimize their impact.
  • Operational Risk Management: Integrate new products and services into the Operational Risk Program, ensuring they are properly managed and monitored.
  • Stakeholder Management: Provide guidance, oversight, and reporting to key stakeholders, ensuring they are informed and aligned with the team's objectives.
  • Program Delivery and Inventory Management: Ensure timely completion of program deliverables and manage inventory to meet business needs.
  • Reporting and Executive Updates: Maintain robust reporting and produce executive updates for senior leaders, providing insights into the team's performance and progress.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate and drive alignment of cross-functional internal and external stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
Requirements
  • Operational Risk Management Experience: 2+ years of experience in operational risk management, control management, or a related field within the banking or financial services industries.
  • Project and Program Management: Strong project and/or program management experience, with the ability to work autonomously and adjust quickly to shifting priorities.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence opinions and drive change.
  • Case Management System Experience: Experience with case management systems, with the ability to manage and drive change.
  • Flexibility and Teamwork: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and a strong team player mentality.
