Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, draft, review, negotiate, and amend contracts with national and international partners and service providers.
  • Provide legal counsel and advice on corporate, criminal, regulatory, labor, tax, administrative, and litigation matters.
  • Ensure CIMMYT's compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in Mexico and other jurisdictions.
  • Monitor and track entrusted matters, using dashboards and KPI monitoring tools to prepare progress updates and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Implement and monitor the continuous improvement of contract life cycle processes, including automation, template creation, and optimization of contract processes.
  • Represent CIMMYT before government agencies and authorities, and provide legal support and advice on institutional compliance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, with a Master's degree or LL.M. in Corporate, International, or IP Law desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar roles or activities, with additional experience in private and public sector industry related to agricultural R&D and biotechnology a plus.
  • Advanced level of English, with a minimum C1 CEFR score.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, research, and communication skills, including the ability to communicate legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe software, with experience in ticketing systems software desirable.
