Responsibilities- Develop and implement effective materials planning and procurement strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials.
- Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate contracts, prices, and delivery terms that meet our business needs.
- Monitor and optimize inventory levels to minimize excess or shortage of materials, ensuring that we have the right products in the right quantities at the right time.
- Implement inventory control procedures, including cycle counts, audits, and stock optimization techniques to maintain accurate inventory levels.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to forecast demand and maintain appropriate stock levels, ensuring that we meet customer needs and minimize stockouts.
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution, to ensure efficient and cost-effective movement of goods.
- Optimize logistics processes to improve efficiency, reduce lead times, and minimize costs, ensuring that we deliver high-quality products to our customers on time.
- Evaluate and select third-party logistics partners and manage relationships to ensure service levels are met and costs are minimized.
- Lead and mentor a team of materials professionals, providing guidance, support, and fostering a collaborative work environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal departments, such as production, supply chain, and quality assurance, to align strategies and streamline processes, ensuring that we deliver high-quality products to our customers.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the materials organization, implementing best practices and lean methodologies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in materials management, procurement, and logistics within a manufacturing environment, with a track record of progressively increasing responsibilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control methods, logistics management principles, and ERP systems.
