Fusion Application as a Service (FAaaS) is an innovative team operating at the crossroads of infrastructure and applications, showcasing OCI's capability to revolutionize some of the largest SaaS platforms in the industry. We are transforming Oracle's existing SaaS offerings, including the multi-billion dollar revenue-generating Fusion applications, into first-class Oracle cloud entities.

To realize this vision, we are developing a platform that oversees the complete lifecycle—from provisioning to upgrades to termination—and offers a self-service cloud experience for our SaaS products by leveraging the foundational OCI platform and services.

As a Principal Member of the Technical Staff on the FAaaS team, you will contribute to the creation of distributed, scalable, and fault-tolerant software systems that support our business objectives and end-users. You will be responsible for the entire software lifecycle—development, testing, CI/CD, and production operations. You must balance product feature development with operational considerations, such as creating run books, automating operations, and implementing structured logging and instrumentation for metrics and events, showcasing a variety of internal tools at OCI.

From a technological standpoint, this role is situated in a greenfield development environment, offering a significant degree of autonomy, allowing us to innovate without the constraints of legacy products and services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in delivering scalable, cloud-native distributed systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong understanding of Computer Science principles (data structures, algorithms, and programming paradigms).
  • Proficient in Java, Python, and shell scripting tools.
  • Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes/Docker.
  • Strong working knowledge of GitHub/Bitbucket, TeamCity/Hudson, Maven/Gradle.
  • Proven experience in building highly available services, with knowledge of common service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with Cloud Storage technologies like Block Storage and File Storage.
  • Hands-on experience with btrfs filesystem is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Experience in developing control plane/data plane solutions for cloud-native companies.
  • Experience in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving performance issues in complex environments.
  • Deep understanding of Unix-like operating systems.
  • Production experience with Cloud and ML technologies is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of data science and machine learning is advantageous but not required.
