Procurement Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all commercial interactions with suppliers to ensure seamless operations.
  • Lead the Request for Quotation (RFQ) and supplier selection process for new product launches.
  • Drive cost reduction and performance objectives in line with existing business strategies.
  • Collaborate with Production Control and Logistics to resolve supplier-related issues.
  • Negotiate and manage basic supplier agreements.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure business continuity.
  • Work closely with Global Commodity Managers to develop and execute commodity strategies at the local plant level.
  • Explore and develop global sourcing opportunities to consolidate and leverage across BorgWarner locations.
  • Update purchase orders regularly in accordance with current supplier agreements.
  • Work independently as an individual contributor.
  • Travel: Up to 10% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Business Administration - Required.
  • At least 5 years of purchasing experience in an automotive production purchasing environment.
  • Experience with Electronics and Mechanical components is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Critical analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to determine most of their work assignments with minimal management input.
