Job Summary

The Welcoming Communities Program Officer will join the team at Uscri to contribute to the organization’s mission of supporting refugees and immigrants. This role will focus on creating a welcoming environment for refugees and immigrants in Mexico, with a particular emphasis on university campuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and consolidate activities related to the student committee network.
  • Develop a strategy to raise awareness about welcoming communities through student committees.
  • Reinforce the financial self-sufficiency of student committees.
  • Provide information on university student participation in student committees.
  • Establish and maintain institutional channels of communication with academic contacts.
  • Support the capacity building of social service providers for refugee students.
  • Compile and draft content for social media related to program activities.
  • Facilitate communication between student committees, Uscri staff, and other actors.
  • Create audiovisual documentation of events with student committees.
  • Maintain biweekly meetings with student committees.
  • Organize committee meetings, leadership meetings, and other events as required.
  • Develop annual capacity building workshops for new recruits to student committees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of one year of experience with student or civil society organizations, universities, or international organizations related to migration, human rights, or vulnerable populations.
  • Experience in group management, leadership, and event organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and financial systems.
  • Commitment to Uscri’s values, including respect for others and a multicultural workplace.
