Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Sanctions Manager at HSBC. The successful candidate will support Senior Management in meeting HSBC's compliance and regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of HSBC's Sanctions policy in compliance with U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control, United Nations, European Union and Treasury's Financial Sanctions.
  • Provide active assistance in protecting the organisation from financial crime.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategies, processes, controls and policies.
  • Ensure appropriate training and communications are delivered to HSBC employees.
  • Manage a team of Compliance Officers tasked with the review and investigation of alerts that can expose the Bank to a sanctions breach.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced staff on sanctions matters.
  • Engage with Senior Management to direct them in actions to take in order to avoid sanctions breaches.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years' experience in Sanction Compliance roles.
  • Strong critical thinking skill set.
  • Interest/Awareness of geopolitical events that have/could have impact on Sanctions.
  • Knowledge of SWIFT messages (preferred but non-mandatory).
  • Ability to multi-task across many fields involving potentially complex projects and multiple teams.
  • Ability to adapt to change and provide input where necessary.
  • Experience in managing and developing a team.
  • Proven communication and influencing skills with the ability to communicate and in writing at all levels.
  • An excellent command in English.
