About the Role

We're seeking a seasoned Software Engineering Lead to join our team at Zillow, where you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of real estate technology. As a key member of our engineering organization, you'll be responsible for leading the delivery and ongoing support of projects from end-to-end.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the design of new features and ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and maintainability.
  • Review and provide feedback on code submitted by peers, promoting best practices and ensuring consistency throughout the codebase.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing among engineers, facilitating open discussions and advocating for standard methodologies.
  • Mentor junior engineers, helping them grow and develop their skills, and providing guidance on complex technical topics.
  • Participate in an inclusive, energetic, and highly multi-functional team that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A minimum of 7+ years of software development experience, with a strong background in languages such as Java, Python, NodeJS, and Go.
  • Experience working with a range of persistence strategies, including relational and non-relational databases.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (both written and spoken).
  • A deep understanding of modern development technologies and trends, with the ability to design, deliver, debug, and maintain front-end user interfaces and back-end software systems.
  • A proven track record as a technical leader, with the ability to impact beyond your immediate team and drive change across the organization.
