Position Overview

The MRO Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the acquisition of high-quality materials and services, driving cost efficiency, and facilitating timely delivery to support operational excellence. This position involves managing the procurement of goods and services related to Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO). The specialist will engage with suppliers to discuss pricing, negotiate contracts, and assess service quality.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Efficiently managing the maintenance tool crib within budgetary constraints.
  • Identifying, evaluating, and negotiating with suppliers to secure favorable procurement agreements.
  • Conducting purchasing transactions for MRO-related goods and services.
  • Maintaining clear communication with suppliers regarding quotes, price adjustments, and service evaluations.
  • Keeping updated price lists to ensure accurate invoicing.
  • Reviewing purchase order confirmations and updating pricing and delivery timelines in the ERP system.
  • Executing purchasing activities aligned with the overall supply chain strategy and supporting sourcing projects.
  • Proactively addressing sourcing challenges and collaborating with suppliers to resolve issues promptly.
  • Working closely with operations, materials, and procurement teams to maximize value and achieve organizational objectives.
  • Managing inventory levels of MRO materials effectively.
  • Providing insights on current orders and forecasting future procurement needs.
  • Monitoring reorder points and initiating stock replenishment actions.
  • Reconciling inventory discrepancies.
  • Coordinating with logistics, production planning, and warehouse teams to ensure efficient routing and storage of goods.
  • Ensuring compliance with established procedures for receiving, storing, and shipping materials.
  • Generating reports to forecast inventory and distribution needs.
  • Supporting analysis efforts to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Developing and implementing new procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Maintaining open communication within the team regarding supply chain issues.
  • Partnering with Operations to meet production targets.
  • Engaging in training to enhance technical skills and service delivery.

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, candidates should possess the following:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Materials Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in tool crib operations.
  • Up to 3 years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing context.
  • Up to 3 years of experience in material planning in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with suppliers, including price negotiations and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Familiarity with analyzing quotes and conducting value analysis for strategic sourcing.
  • Knowledge of purchasing techniques and logistical supply chain processes.

Additional Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience with WMS/ERP systems (e.g., Oracle).
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
