At F5, we're looking for a skilled Site Reliability Engineer III to join our team. As a software engineer specializing in site reliability, you will bring a software engineering and automated solution mindset to your work.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud infrastructure, network automation, and DevOps principles. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and scalability of critical systems, networks, and SaaS platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply modern engineering principles and practices to operational functions with a strong emphasis on automating network and security tasks.
  • Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms such as automation and evolve systems by fostering changes that improve velocity, automating network configurations, security policies, and compliance checks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, automating response to common problems (system failures, connectivity issues, and bottlenecks) to prevent future occurrences.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable and robust system architecture to improve services on an ongoing basis.
  • Investigate various open source and proprietary technologies, components, libraries, tools, etc., and help build a highly available, highly scalable, and easily manageable system.
  • Apply observability and data skills to proactively measure system performance, diagnosing services/needs, and quickly identify solutions.
  • Participate in service operation and RCA activities with defining SLOs and SLIs for business stakeholders.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices through automated systems that continuously scan for vulnerabilities, apply patches, and adjust configurations to maintain a strong security posture.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive knowledge bases for system documentation, including standard operating procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting guides, to support end-users' ability to use the systems effectively.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.

Requirements:

  • A code-first approach to manage resources in the cloud, SaaS platforms, containerization & orchestration.
  • Knowledge in technology systems including, network infrastructure, firewalls, and SaaS platforms.
  • Experience with network management and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and security automation, including access control, automated threat detection, response solutions, and security orchestration tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate network and security considerations into the DevOps lifecycle, ensuring that automation and security are part of the continuous integration and deployment pipeline.
  • Proficiency in Agile delivery, DevOps principles, and associated tools and technologies.
  • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as an integral member of an agile team.
  • Proficient communication, planning, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organization skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and timelines.

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years' experience as a software engineer, specializing in site reliability, network automation, or a similar role in a technology environment.
  • Technical confidence and familiarity with DevOps tools.
  • Strong proficiency in scripting and/or programming languages.
  • Hands-on experience with technology systems tools, protocols, and platforms.
