Job Summary:

As a Reading/Math Learning Loss Interventionist with Horry County Schools, you will play a crucial role in providing high-level mathematical experiences to students who are struggling in mathematics. You will teach the course of study prescribed by the district, utilizing Tier II or III instructional programs and materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the assigned program of study with fidelity.
  • Deliver focused math intervention instruction to students.
  • Use supplemental intervention materials to provide Tier II or III literacy support.
  • Establish clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Administer and interpret assessment data to determine student progress.
  • Implement various strategies for student learning.
  • Prepare the classroom for activities.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Provide for the care and protection of school property.
  • Utilize technology to support instruction.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments as needed.
  • Consistently assess student achievement through various measures.
  • Monitor and encourage individual student progress, reviewing data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with staff regarding student performance and learning needs.
  • Update records accurately and completely as required by laws and district policies.
  • Participate in training and implementation of math programs and instructional strategies.
  • Manage student behavior and maintain discipline by establishing classroom rules and procedures.
  • Participate in department, school, and district meetings and professional development activities as needed.
  • Stay current with recent developments in mathematical research as initiated by the school district.
  • Foster and maintain effective communication with parents and/or guardians.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Certification as required by the state of South Carolina in the field of assignments, including Elementary, Early Childhood, or Reading.
  • Other professional and personal qualifications as deemed necessary for fulfilling assigned responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically capable of frequently lifting or moving up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for using a telephone and data entry.
  • Read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone.
  • Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone.
