About the Role:
- This is a full-time position located in Mexico City, Mexico, with potential for travel to other locations in Mexico, the United States, and other countries.
- The successful candidate will provide expert-level support to the Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) in assessing, planning, and monitoring police professionalization and capacity-building projects.
- You will collaborate with law enforcement agencies to develop effective public safety strategies, advise INL staff on project development, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement, and participate in meetings with government officials and interagency partners.
- Your responsibilities will also include coordinating the implementation of police professionalization and capacity-building projects, recommending training and support to state and local police personnel, and enhancing police professionalization in areas such as investigations, tactical training, officer safety, community policing, human rights, and ethics.
- In addition, you will be responsible for drafting and authoring reports, analyzing data, and making recommendations to supervisors and senior government officials.
Requirements:
- Citizenship of Mexico or a Third Country National
- Spanish FSI level 4/4 and English FSI level 3/3
- Bachelor's degree in international relations, law enforcement, public policy, criminal justice, social sciences, or related field, or an associate degree with five years of related experience in Mexican law enforcement
- A combination of five years of experience in program management, with three years of experience in a professional setting related to law enforcement, managing law enforcement support and training projects
- Three years of experience in development, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of police training programs
- Strong understanding of policing in Mexico and law enforcement practices, including citizen security and policing principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
