Role Overview

This position is accountable for the engineering, design, development, scheduling, and production launch of Body-in-White systems and/or components. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting feasibility development through template application in collaboration with design office themes.
  • Overseeing upper body components and assemblies throughout program CAD milestones.
  • Managing system requirement sections and BIW part template application across the entire program lifecycle.
  • Upholding standard operating procedures for engineering practices.
  • Driving quality enhancements, weight reduction, cost efficiency, and other initiatives aimed at improving operational effectiveness, including communicating technical product status to management.

The engineer will participate in meetings during North American work hours, collaborating closely with local engineering teams, architecture/vehicle concepts, and PDO to ensure alignment with all packaging, functional objectives, and system requirements.

Required Qualifications

Essential qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from an ABET accredited program.
  • A minimum of five years of engineering experience.
  • Experience in design and development engineering specifically related to Body-in-White, closures, or exterior systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software.
  • Competence in Google and Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

Desirable qualifications include:

  • At least one year of experience with NX and Teamcenter in a production release environment, as well as BIW in-plant launch experience.
  • Familiarity with Unigraphics, NX, and Teamcenter.
  • A self-motivated individual with strong leadership and communication skills, along with proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of high-strength steels, welding techniques, and GD&T.
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
  • Certification in Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) as a Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Experience with reactive Green/Black Belt methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Knowledge-Based Engineering (KBE) is a plus.
