Special Freight Logistics Coordinator

Job Summary:

As a Special Freight Logistics Coordinator at MAHLE, you will play a critical role in arranging and coordinating non-standard freight moves for domestic and international shipments. This position requires strong analytical and communication skills to lead special freight projects and ensure compliance with import/export regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate all North American non-standard freight moves, including tooling, equipment, prototypes, and air freight.
  • Facilitate conference calls and meetings between plant engineers, logistics, and foreign suppliers to coordinate international shipments or special projects.
  • Review plant import and export documents for special or non-contracted freight to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Provide support on special freight projects, including quote analysis and comparison.
  • Analyze and review the freight forwarder's rate/lane matrix for accuracy and make recommendations for changes.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities and record them in the internal reporting system.
  • Track and report Special Freight measurables, including Root Cause Analysis.
  • Ensure necessary freight service with best cost approach and compliance with MAHLE's approval and signature guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain the Cargo Base – Standard Process Tool for the Region NA.
  • Participate in the audit of expedited freight invoices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field from a four-year college or university.
  • Bilingual, with preference given to candidates fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Strong reasoning and analytical skills.
  • 0-1 years of experience in logistics planning in the automotive industry.
  • Minimum of 6 months of related experience, preferably covering all areas of responsibility for this position.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with multiple workstreams.
  • Proven planning abilities, including successful execution of plans.
  • SAP proficiency is strongly preferred.
