Job Description

We are seeking an International Trade Specialist to join our team in Mexico City, Mexico. The ideal candidate will have experience in international trade and customs compliance, as well as excellent communication and negotiation skills.

The successful candidate will provide ITCC business consultancy for the country on relevant trade compliance topics, leading trade compliance activities according to CoE directives.

This includes:

  • Providing guidance on legal requirements for Customs brokers (Import / Export Licensing & Documentation)
  • Making sure Customs broker's gets detailed and reliable instructions on how to perform the customs clearance of goods on behalf of Bayer concerning the origin, customs value or HS code or others
  • Being involved in Trade Facilitation activities to improve the Supply Chain
  • Managing Customs Bonds & Suspensions and monitoring cases of antidumping
  • Preparing and filling Prior Disclosures and Voluntary Self Disclosures when required
  • Managing the necessary actions to ensure the collection of Export Refunds/Duty Drawback
  • Managing Special Duty & Customs Programs (Temporary Imports, Free Trade Zones, Maquila model, etc.)
  • Performing internal controls and leading external audits to ensure the compliance of the procedures. It involves the maintenance of the risk matrix; identify improvement opportunities, prepare audit reports and conduct post-audit follow up and corrective action to avoid customs compliance issues
  • Supporting governmental inquiries and investigations as well as accompanying contacts with responsible authorities
  • Developing, maintaining and conducting internal training programs (automated and face-to-face) for import and export compliance
  • Supporting designed processes and procedures and update them to ensure compliance with new or revised regulations
  • Interacting with government agencies and chambers, according to the strategy defined along with the Head of CoE ITCC LatAm

You will also research, interpret and communicate regulations pertaining to international trade.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in International Trade/Relations, Business Administration, Foreign Trade Law or an equivalent qualification
  • More than 5 years of professional experience (understanding of import and export operation) and in different areas of International Trade & Customs Compliance
  • Fluent oral and written English
  • Experience in developing and implementing procedures and processes
  • Excellent communication skills combined with convincing negotiation skills towards authorities
  • Ability to work across multiple cultures and businesses
  • Deep understanding and knowledge in complex supply chain processes, life science & agriculture products
  • Long-term experience in collaborating with various functional areas
