Rail Operations Coordinator

As a key member of our transportation team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our rail network. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the management of our auto crew call system, ensuring that crews are properly assigned and transported to their destinations. You will also be responsible for coordinating with taxi companies to transport crews between trains and their lodging facilities, as well as assisting with the issuance of bulletins and abolishment notices for train and yard jobs.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist in handling all auto crew call exceptions
  • Help manage the auto crew call system to support the transportation plan
  • Help make hotel and motel reservations for crews
  • Coordinate with taxi companies to transport crews between trains and their lodging facilities
  • Assist in issuance of bulletins and abolishment notices for train and yard jobs
  • Help with creation of daily and monthly reports
  • Monitor and regulate crew boards at each location
  • Demonstrate operational excellence by knowing and applying the business requirements
  • Demonstrate customer focus and contingency planning to ensure stakeholder expectations are met
  • Understand the relevant business metrics and apply effective tactics to sustain a culture of operational effectiveness
  • Identify when a rule/regulation/policy has been violated and have one-on-one accountability conversations with an individual who has not met expectations

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant operations experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Acumen in one or more disciplines of railroad operations

Working Conditions:

  • Shift work is an essential function of this job. Employees must have the ability and willingness to support critically important railroad operations 24 hours per day/7 days per week, working various shifts as assigned. Schedule assignments may include after-hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • On-call responsibilities are an essential function of this job. Employees must have the ability and willingness to support operations of critically important systems and/or processes 24 hours per day/7 days per week. On-call assignments may include after-hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • This position may require minimal travel up to 10% of the time.
