As a Policy & Government Relations Senior Manager, you will be responsible for executing the Company's public policy agenda (protect and promote) by managing all aspects within Corporate Government Relations for Mexico.
Your primary focus will be to support the business by engaging proactively and reactively with key stakeholders, such as all branches of the government, NGOs, international organizations, Chambers and associations, in order to promote and protect the Company's business interests.
In this role you will also seek to identify business opportunities in the regulatory arena, such as Free Trade Agreements, Imports regulations, Customs Classifications, NGO transparency regulation, etc.

The role is based in Mexico City, Mexico
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain value-based contacts with key actors in the federal, state and local governments, health/environment and customs authorities, as well as supranational health/environment related institutions with influence on the food and beverage industry.
- Engage with key stakeholders in the government, chambers and associations, and relevant organizations at least once a week, at the federal and local levels.
- Execute an agenda with governments to align our goals with the public policy agenda.
- Execute and implement the Government corporate reputation drive for the Business Plan.
- Play a leading consultancy role with the Senior Leadership Team in everything related to government and political relations.
- Coordinate with the operations' representatives of Public affairs and Communications, Legal, Marketing, Financial and other departments with regards to issues originating in Mexico that may impact our business activities.
- Lead businesses or industry associations in a coordinated manner to address political/legislative issues that can impact the overall food and beverage industry.
- Provide a lead role in government relations and strategy setting with business partners (8 bottling operations) to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to our joint key stakeholders approach (one team, one strategy, one voice).
- The position implies the responsibility for protecting and defending all the categories we market (mainly SSDs) and preventing negative impacts on our operations and P&L (industry specific taxes, fines, product recalls or dry markets), ensuring a fluent and productive relationship with government authorities, legislators and other key stakeholders.
- Direct effect on savings related to legislation, taxes, etc.) and volume growth.
Requirements:
- 5 years of experience in a Government Relations/Government Affairs position in roles of responsibility within a large global or multinational company. This individual must have experience developing the strategy for and leading the internal and external team of government affairs professionals.
- Candidates must have proven experience in all the fields of government affairs/government relations, key stakeholder engagement (NGOs, opinion leaders, business associations, multilateral entities, etc.)
- Spanish and Fluent English are required;
- Communications Knowledge: Highly organized and detail-oriented. Strong writing and presentation skills. Knowledge of procedures and information for public relations and communications strategy development, planning and execution.
- Government Relations: Knowledge of how government is structured and understanding of how public policy decisions are made and implemented. Includes ability to communicate effectively with politicians.
- Lobbying Laws: Knowledge of federal, state and local lobbying laws, including limitations on gifts and entertainment of public officials.
- Relationships with Community Leadership: Knowledge of community key decision makers and opinion leaders, whose stand on issues impact the business environment for the Company.
- Independent Point of View: Knowledge of the external environment in which the Company's business is conducted. Includes ability to offer a broad perspective that extends beyond a particular functional discipline and draw upon knowledge that comes from frequent interaction with different departments, employees and sources and constituencies outside of the Company.
- In addition: Business & Financial Knowledge and Technical Experience (Health and Environmental legislation). Outstanding project management and organizational skills. Team player and ability to work with different constituents (internal/external).
