**Job Summary**

Driscoll's is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research Scientist to lead our Host Resistance team. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for conducting and developing assays to characterize berry plant response to diseases and pests in Mexico.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Plan and carry out resistance assays using established protocols for key target pathogens and biotic stresses on all berry crops for Driscoll's varieties.
  • Coordinate with the Host Resistance Senior Scientist and team to develop and/or optimize existing assays for new or emerging pathogens and pests.
  • Conduct inoculations, maintain plants, and evaluate response in trials.
  • Manage workflow, create work strategies, and manage subordinates to execute work.
  • Capture, manage, and analyze data for accurate reporting.
  • Write reports in a timely manner and share data with senior scientists and collaborators.

**Requirements**

  • PhD in plant pathology, entomology, microbiology, or a related field with at least 2 years' industry experience relevant to the position.
  • Master's degree with 5 years' experience in plant pathology, entomology, plant medicine, or others relevant to biotic stress phenotyping.
  • Familiarity with microscopy and microbiological techniques, and disease and pest resistance screening.
  • Ability to work in laboratory, greenhouse, and crop fields.
