About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Food Service Aide to join our team in the central kitchen and food service operations. As a key member of our team, you will assist with daily food preparation, cooking, and distribution, ensuring that our clients receive high-quality meals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with meeting daily needs at the assigned kitchen
  • Refer problems to Production Supervisor
  • Perform as an integral member of a work team and complete tasks as needed by the team
  • Assist in proper storage, care, and inventory of food and supplies
  • Follow dress and sanitation codes
  • Prepare, cook, collate, and pack various components of the daily meal
  • Follow agency policies and program regulations
  • Assist with hot, cold, and frozen food prep
  • Clean up of own equipment, work area, and supplies
  • Assist with all clean up at the end of the food service day including pots, pans, and other cooking utensils, equipment, and apparatuses
  • Work additional hours as needed to meet the needs of the program
  • Attend monthly food service safety and sanitation training meetings
  • Learns other positions and fills in other areas as needed, by learning all Nutrition Service meal programs
  • Uses computer for basic purposes such as reading Agency information/email, annual In-Service Solutions required trainings, filling out basic forms, and working with inventory

Requirements

  • Must follow food service regulations including NYS DOH Safety and Sanitation Codes
  • Must be able to work independently and follow instructions to complete daily checklist
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality with regard to program and client information
  • Must be able to read and correctly interpret lists and information and carry out duties accordingly
  • Must have basic computer skills, or be willing to learn and demonstrate skills
  • Must exhibit a professional demeanor in the workplace and be able to communicate effectively within the work team
  • Must be a good role model and help ensure a setting which fosters teamwork and cooperation
  • Must display good judgment and organizational skills
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs. or more regularly
  • Must be flexible with duties and work schedule to meet program needs
  • Must have physical ability to carry out responsibilities including standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver's License with a good driving record within Agency policy; must have access to a vehicle for related travel

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D.; and
  • Minimum of three months related experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training

Estimated Salary: $25,000 - $35,000 per year
