The Role: Director of Identity and Fraud Engineering

You'll lead a team of talented engineers to build world-class frameworks that mitigate online and offline risks, verify user authenticity and trustworthiness, and ensure privacy and policy compliance.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop next-generation authentication and verification frameworks
  • Manage multiple products, features, tools, or infrastructure
  • Lead teams delivering organizational-level projects with ownership of large, strategic areas
  • Be a recognized domain expert, applying expertise to multiply effectiveness in delivering impactful products
  • Review and provide feedback on features, technology, architecture, designs, estimates, and test strategies
  • Manage project risks and engage in creative problem-solving
  • Evolve engineering and business processes to optimize team efficiency
  • Prioritization and Execution:
  • Shape your organization to focus on the right things for customers while holding them accountable for goals
  • Recognize, influence, and resolve critical issues jeopardizing focus and direction
  • Have a track record of strong execution and meeting organizational goals
  • Instill customer empathy within your organization
  • Champion reliability and system health, responsible for the long-term health and quality of codebases and systems
  • Ensure teams proactively identify and resolve tech debt or blockers impacting quality or execution
  • Team Scale:
  • Manage multiple teams, typically through multiple managers
  • A track record of managing teams of importance to the company or business unit, evolving into organizations or departments

Requirements:

  • Relevant Bachelor's degree (or equivalent practical experience) plus 12 years of relevant industry (or additional academic) experience
  • Typically has managed for at least 6 years
  • Domain expert in identity management, fraud, and trust management
  • Well-versed in writing optimized code and architectural patterns for optimization
  • Well-opinionated and hands-on with code review and implementation details
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Expertise:

  • Representative for your organization's systems and long-term goals
  • Champion initiatives across the organization to ensure technical designs are properly evaluated and communicated in the context of organizational goals
  • Drive architectural direction for your organization and help evolve systems toward it
