Operations Manager Job Description

At Amazon, we're committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences. As an Operations Manager, you'll play a critical role in driving business objectives and leading a team of Area Managers to achieve performance goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing staffing plans, schedules, and quality initiatives to meet business objectives.
  • Measuring performance, providing feedback, and holding Area Managers accountable for their performance.
  • Leveraging the Operations and Area Managers to source and nurture ideas for improvement plans.
  • Ensuring best practices are shared across departments, shifts, and the network.
  • Collaborating with support staff to build and secure resources for projects and initiatives.

A typical day will involve meetings with different areas of the business, analyzing performance and risk metrics, and mentoring and coaching your team. You'll be a source of leadership and support your team to be the best managers they can be.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques experience.
  • English and Spanish proficiency.
  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
  • 3+ years of employee and performance management experience.
  • 3+ years of Strong Operations Management Proficient in Data Analysis.
  • 5+ years Operations Management experience in manufacturing, production, distribution environment or related industry.
  • Supervisory responsibility for a minimum of 100 hourly employees.
  • Excel skills required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
  • MBA from IIM/XLRI.
  • Proficiency in Six Sigma tools and Lean techniques preferred.
  • Post MBA experience.
  • Basic/Working knowledge of Six Sigma tools and Lean techniques preferred.
