Position Overview

The Senior Software Security Engineer plays a pivotal role in collaborating with product development teams throughout the organization, serving as a subject matter expert to provide guidance on secure software development methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage closely with development teams to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities in our software and systems.
  • Establish and uphold security tools and processes to safeguard our software development lifecycle.
  • Perform security evaluations and code reviews to uncover vulnerabilities and ensure adherence to security protocols.
  • Create and sustain secure coding standards while offering training to development teams.
  • Work alongside cross-functional teams to guarantee the timely and successful launch of secure software solutions.
  • Advocate for and implement Secure SDLC practices in alignment with compliance mandates.
  • Assess software security practices and architecture as requested by product teams.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members on technical subjects.
  • Devise solutions to automate workflows and processes.
  • Develop and promote automated scanning tools and methodologies across the organization.
  • Identify and spearhead process enhancement initiatives to boost productivity and/or minimize costs.
  • Lead evaluations of security tools and conduct Proof of Concepts to provide well-founded recommendations on tool acquisition, integration, and maintenance strategies.
  • Generate performance metrics and reports from consolidated sources to assist Software Security Management in prioritizing remediation efforts within the organization.
  • Contribute to the team's strategic direction and long-term planning.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.

Experience

We seek candidates with over 7 years of experience in software development with a security focus, including:

  • Proficiency in writing and/or testing software applications; experience with automation is a plus.
  • Experience with container technologies and cloud service providers such as AWS.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C/C++, Java, .NET, JavaScript, Python, Bash, PowerShell, and/or Ruby.
  • Knowledge of development tools including Eclipse, Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, IntelliJ, Git, Jira, Jenkins, and/or Docker.
  • Strong attention to detail coupled with excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a diverse range of individuals, including executives, managers, developers, and domain experts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

In addition to the experience requirements, we are looking for candidates who possess:

  • A self-driven approach with agility in their work.
  • A proven history of conducting application security assessments, whether through Bug Bounty programs or capture the flag events.
  • Experience in mobile application security is advantageous.
  • A background in general information security practices and/or community involvement.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English.
