Media Director

Monks is seeking an experienced Media Director to lead a full-service enterprise media account working on one of the world's most popular brands. The ideal candidate will oversee the development of cross-functional media strategies aligned with client objectives and audience behavior, coach and develop junior team members in all areas of campaign strategy, planning, management, and activation, develop relationships with key vendors, and ensure the overarching success and health of the account.
Our ideal candidate is an empathetic and strategic leader who can seamlessly blend art and science to drive impactful media campaigns. This person will be able to translate data into a tailored storyline for an insightful media delivery. Key Responsibilities- Media Strategy & Planning: Lead large-scale strategic media deliveries such as annual market analyses, regional competitive landscapes, annual media forecasts, and others. Collaborate closely with team leads to ensure development and innovation of all media deliverables. Anticipate roadblocks and offer advice for enhancing the client and internal experience.
- Client Management: Partner closely with the Account Director to serve as the client's main agency media POC, ensuring quality service and deliverables across the board. Deeply connect with the client culture and understand their challenges - show up as an extension of their team, not just your average agency partner. Be willing to navigate a culture of transparency and regular feedback for continuous improvement. Continuously look for ways to enhance the client experience, offer additional support, and grow the partnership locally and globally.
- Budget Management: Collaborate with and coach the team leads to ensure an efficient allocation of an annual media budget of ~US$20M across digital media campaigns. Maintain high attention to detail and timely reporting and communication regarding all media spend. Responsible for managing the internal team budget and approving costs incurred operationally. Oversee the account margin and ensure appropriate utilization of internal resources to maintain a healthy operation.
- Team Leadership: Coach and develop an agile, innovative team of creative media experts, helping to develop our talent while maintaining a people-first culture of excellence. Communicate and train team members on media tools and digital skill sets. Guide the organizational structure and workflow for streamlined collaboration and ensure clear and direct communication across client and internal teams. Lead by example to create and maintain a culture of curiosity, feedback, security, collaboration, agility, creativity, and innovation.
- Deep understanding of diverse media strategies, negotiations
- Experience with hands-on media execution and campaign management
- Agency experience preferred
- Advanced English language
- 2+ years of experience in a management capacity
- Diverse technical media knowledge and expertise
- Media Platforms Knowledge: Google Ads, CM360, DV360, Meta Ads, Amazon Ads, TikTok Ads
- Media Tools/Software Knowledge: Nielsen, Kantar, Reach and frequency and optimization Software, Social Tracking tools, comScore, AdSolutions, TGI/GWI, Admetricks. Understand capabilities and applications to translate data into actionable insights
- Proven experience in maintaining successful client relationships
- Able to manage a budget, control costs, plan and schedule around cost concerns for business unit
- Excellent leadership, management, and motivational skills
- Deep understanding of the media ecosystem, and ability to clearly communicate how complex strategies can serve the goals of various stakeholders
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and quantitative/analytical skills
- Adept at injecting ideas, innovation, and leading industry developments into planning assignments
- ~8+ years of media experience
- Detail-oriented and proven ability to thrive in an agile, fast-paced environment
