Job Summary

As a Production Director at Vertiv, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and productive manufacturing process that meets customer requirements. This includes collaborating with other managers to formulate objectives and understand requirements, calculating costs and preparing budgets, organizing workflow to meet specifications and deadlines, and leading and developing self-driving teams.

Responsibilities

Manage People

  • Provide strong leadership skills with the ability to get results through mentoring.
  • Ensure that any new employee follows an induction process.
  • Manage directly the managers, senior supervisors, and supervisors, and indirectly all functions related to the APU.
  • Monitor competencies for the team and develop autonomy (training plan building, follow-up & training actions implementation).
  • Ensure working standards are respected during operations (safety, work instructions, quality, and respect of the product).
  • Ensure that standards of reaction are applied rigorously and perform escalation according to standards.
  • Develop an enthusiastic, motivated, and flexible team while ensuring Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements are adhered to.
  • Lead daily, weekly, and monthly meetings, and organize delegation.
  • Conduct annual appraisals, salary reviews, career interviews, succession planning, and provide feedback.
  • Perform on-the-job training for teams every day on standards & methodologies implemented.
  • Recognize and congratulate the team for improvements.
  • Ensure a positive social climate within the APUs.
  • Manage productivity and CAPEX projects related to production areas to meet budget and required finish dates.
  • Ensure enforcement of health, safety, and environmental rules.
  • Ensure corrective & preventive maintenance of equipment & sustainable TPM.
  • Define work standards with the help of support functions.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with corporate personalities.

Manage Production

  • Be responsible for customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee plant production, financial performance, and maintain orderly and productive operations.
  • Be accountable for SQCDP performance and profitability (gross margin) of the APUs.
  • Ensure optimal use of equipment (OEE).
  • Assign & check corrective actions on recurring problems with APU and Plant support departments.
  • Ensure manufacturing performance, volume, quality, and cost goals are met.
  • Escalate unresolved issues at the site level.
  • Validate monthly the demonstrated capacity of the APU and communicate to SIOP / MPS.
  • Weekly commit to MPS.
  • Respect daily the MPS contract and take necessary measures for weekly MPS compliance.

Manage Continuous Improvement

  • Lead daily APUs War room (SQCDP).
  • Lead workstation ergonomics risk analysis and elimination.
  • Conduct daily Gemba activities with the team, reviewing top 3 issues countermeasures.
  • Lead & review action plans to improve SQCDP performance.
  • Be responsible for Customer Line Return analysis and resolution.
  • Translate customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes.
  • Manage the VSM deployment plan for the APU or plant areas.
  • Prepare budget proposals (including training actions, investments).
  • Manage the budget of the APUs and allocate appropriate resources while implementing corrective actions for compliance.

Contribute to Successful New Projects

  • Be involved in the industrialization of new projects and ensure a flawless launch to SORP.
  • Validate the Lean Process Design for new projects.

Qualifications

  • Reports to: Director of Operations Plant Manager.
  • Schooling required: BS degree or equivalent experience in Manufacturing, Metal Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience required: At minimum 3-5 years of experience.
  • Management or Independent Contributor: Salaried Position.
  • English level: Bilingual 90%.
  • Self-Awareness: Strong transformational leadership and emotional intelligence, effective communication, strategic thinking, problem-solving, self-development objective.
  • Computational knowledge: MS Office, knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • Experience managing a headcount of 1000+ people.

Additional comments:

  • Desired: Six Sigma Green Belt certification and exposure to operative systems based on Toyota Production Systems.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Production and processing knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and costs.
  • Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Administration and management knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Personnel and human resources knowledge of recruitment, selection, training, safety, and labor relations.
