Job Summary

The Advanced Weight Lead is a critical role within Stellantis, responsible for managing program weight status for one or more vehicle programs. This individual will work closely with a cross-functional team to track component and vehicle weights over the development life cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct competitive weight benchmarking to identify areas for improvement
  • Establish initial top-down weight estimates for key model variants, ensuring alignment with program functional objectives and corporate GHG strategy
  • Develop capability and weight scorecards, including GVWRs, GAWRs, payload, towing, and other relevant metrics
  • Identify and prioritize weight reduction opportunities, coordinating approval with cross-functional teams
  • Lead Bill of Materials validation to improve the fidelity of weight status roll-ups, using EBOM and PDB data
  • Coordinate component weighing at suppliers and assembly plants, ensuring accurate weight measurements
  • Validate prototype vehicle weights, addressing spring and ride height issues as needed
  • Monitor weight status of prototype builds from VP to Job 1, validating virtual weight against actual builds
  • Hand-off to production weight reporting team post-Job 1
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • 5+ years of relevant automotive product development experience
  • Knowledge of the overall program development life cycle
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft computer software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience analyzing data and formulating meaningful conclusions and recommendations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with mass properties or development of weight estimates in the automotive or aerospace field
  • Knowledge of Vehicle Demand Energy analysis or fuel economy testing
  • Prior work experience with Stellantis, FCA, or Stellantis Engineering
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to create and deliver presentation materials to senior management
  • Ability to challenge others using data to support a position, and to lead teams with influence and motivation
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work with limited supervision, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines
