Curate library media center resources that fulfill the informational, research, educational, and recreational requirements of all users. Oversee the organization, circulation, and upkeep of library resources. Develop and enforce policies that enhance technology usage through effective facility management, staff support, and leadership of the technology committee. Deliver both formal and informal instruction to equip students and staff with essential skills for navigating the library media center and technology. Facilitate information retrieval for students and staff through various print, audiovisual, and digital sources. Advocate for literacy and foster a love for reading, viewing, and listening. Collaborate with school leadership and faculty to establish and execute a mission, vision, goals, and objectives for the library media program. Actively engage as a member of the School Improvement Team. Contribute to the formulation of a comprehensive long-term technology strategy for the school. Assess curriculum developments and technological advancements to address the instructional needs of students. Serve as the technology liaison for the educational institution. Maintain an accurate inventory of books, computers, equipment, audiovisual materials, and software. Manage various financial resources related to the library. Compile reports for educational authorities. Collaborate with educators and students to promote the integration of reading, writing, oral, visual, and information literacy skills across all instructional areas. Ensure the library/media center environment is conducive to learning. Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities. Provide unrestricted access to the library media center for students and instructional staff throughout the school day. Assist students in gathering, evaluating, synthesizing, and producing media in diverse formats. Plan, instruct, and assess in partnership with classroom teachers on cross-curricular information access skills. Organize and circulate information technology materials and related equipment for easy access. Maintain a centralized, up-to-date bibliographic database for school information technology resources through automation. Implement a public relations initiative that promotes the utilization of the information technology center, services, and resources. Additional Responsibilities

Job Requirements Degree from an accredited institution. Valid certification for Media Specialist in South Carolina or eligibility for the South Carolina Pace program. Endorsement from the District Library Information Coordinator. Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board or administration. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited institution. Valid South Carolina certification for Media Specialist. Successful completion of a technology competency assessment. Experience in managing school library collections and the selection/acquisition of materials and equipment. Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board or administration.
Physical Requirements
