About the Role

The Finance Director will provide commercial and financial leadership to a portfolio of FIC businesses owned by FIH group plc. The role involves setting and delivering strategic initiatives, leading people and processes, interacting with stakeholders, and governing financial reporting and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide finance leadership to the retail business, construction business, automotive business, and support services.
  • Work closely with the MD, Commercial Director, and other directors to identify, analyze, and implement opportunities to enhance business performance.
  • Build and develop high-level relationships with external agencies, including banks, key customers, and auditors.
  • Positively respond to internal and external customers through effective communication and personal accessibility.
  • Constantly seek to improve quality, service, and efficiency, contributing to the evaluation and development of business strategies.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve business risks, opportunities, and solutions to enhance business performance.
  • Liaise with advisors to ensure new initiatives are planned in a tax-efficient manner.
  • Create and own the financial strategy to underpin the businesses' future plans.
  • Identify future financing needs and engage with Group CFO to secure external finance.
  • Lead and own financial planning and analysis, delivering accurate budgets and forecasts within parent company timetables.
  • Prioritize efficient working capital management through stock, receivables, and payables management.
  • Manage the loan book to internal and external clients, ensuring FIC lends responsibly.
  • Promote active management of costs through the relevant businesses.

Requirements

  • CCAB or equivalent qualified accountant with a proven track record of achievement.
  • Ability to drive and manage a diverse workforce.
  • Experience working in or having exposure to local authority or civil service environments.
  • Proven commercial acumen with the ability to contribute to decision-making.
  • Experience transforming finance departments into well-controlled departments capable of reporting on time.
