Clinical Services Manager for Hospice Care

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Clinical Services (RN) plays a pivotal role in guiding the overall direction of clinical operations within the hospice framework. This position is tasked with the establishment, implementation, and assessment of objectives that align with the highest standards of quality in hospice care, contributing to the overarching mission and philosophy of the organization.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Oversee and coordinate all patient services delivered by clinical staff.
  2. Provide mentorship and support to coordinators and the Clinical Services Manager to enhance the quality of hospice care.
  3. Assist in managing clinical teams and strategic planning efforts.
  4. Facilitate the assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation of care for patients and their families.
  5. Support the Executive Director in budget preparation and management.
  6. Analyze operational metrics to identify trends that may affect staffing, revenue, or expenses.
  7. Evaluate the performance of the Clinical Services Manager.
  8. Guide the Clinical Services Manager in developing evaluation techniques for clinical staff.
  9. Conduct hiring, performance evaluations, and terminations of clinical personnel.
  10. Perform annual reviews of clinical staff performance, or more frequently as needed.
  11. Ensure proper maintenance of patient clinical records and compliance with regulatory standards.
  12. Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for patient care.
  13. Design and implement orientation programs for new staff members.
  14. Plan and execute in-service training and continuing education programs for staff development.
  15. Contribute to performance evaluation through productivity assessments and quality improvement initiatives.
  16. Assist in the formulation of organizational goals and the development of policies and procedures.
  17. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and standards governing clinical operations.
  18. Stay informed about advancements in nursing and hospice care, sharing insights with the team.
  19. Promote hospice services within the healthcare community.
  20. Act as the Executive Director in their absence, exercising full authority on their behalf.
  21. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor's degree in nursing is required, with a Master's degree in nursing or a related healthcare field preferred. An active nursing license in good standing in Michigan is essential, along with current CPR certification. A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in healthcare management, particularly in hospice or palliative care, is preferred. Familiarity with Medicare Hospice Certification and CHAP guidelines is advantageous. Knowledge of interdisciplinary hospice care services is crucial. Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to adapt to specific software systems is required. Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills are necessary, along with a keen attention to detail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
