Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, Assembly and Process

Schneider Electric is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in the North American Region. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for delivering automation and technology improvements to our manufacturing processes.
In this role, you will identify and drive improvements in existing assembly and testing equipment or processes, design and develop new assembly lines and testers, and participate in quotation and supplier selection of OEM Machine Tool Builders. You will also provide technical oversight and adherence to project timelines to deliver equipment to targeted deadlines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ownership of all new capacity investments to deploy best manufacturing processes
- Development of automation solutions from Best Available Techniques to provide value-added solutions
- Participation in quotation and supplier selection of OEM Machine Tool Builders
- Technical oversight and adherence to project timelines to deliver equipment to targeted deadlines
- Performance of OEM Machine Tool Builder Site Acceptance Test and validation of process/equipment performance prior to equipment shipment
- Support of process/equipment commissioning at Factory site as required
- Performance of Factory Acceptance Test once process/equipment has been commissioned at the SE Factory and ensure all supplier contractual agreements are met
- Ensuring all appropriate process/equipment/project documentation is captured and stored in the appropriate digital system for knowledge retention
- Collaboration with Global SC Deployment and Industrialization teams in the evolution of the technology applied and documented Best Available Techniques
- Partnership with Manufacturing Plants in the construction and evolution of the site technology roadmap that delivers technical productivity and supports P&L improvement on the product offers
- Continuously improvement installed base of automation and test equipment used for assembly and testing of SE products in NAM factories
- Upgrade and replacement of legacy automation systems to current offers if the process architectures is sustainable and the investments drive solid financial payback
- Provide direct troubleshooting support and training for local plant resources
- Identify and implement improvement projects regarding various industrial manufacturing processes. Productivity improvement will be highly regarded.
- Provide advanced manufacturing support for technologies that support Smart Factory deployment.
This is an exciting role that will offer much opportunity to grow and learn in a highly technical field. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science with an Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or other STEM) Major from an accredited University or equivalent, and 5+ years of Mechanical/Tooling/Manufacturing/Industrialization Engineering Experience in an Automated Industrial Environment.
The candidate will also have proficiency in Safety Engineering with Exposure to Automated Machinery Safety, hands-on industrial automation experience, and self-motivation to innovate/explore new technologies to constantly upgrade the technology deployed. Schneider Electric control component knowledge and CMSE or other Safety Engineering Certification are also required.
This role requires travel throughout the continent 25%-50% levels with some projects requiring slightly heavier percentages. Travel will be closely tied to project timelines and concentrated around SAT/FAT periods.
