The Customer Data and AI (CDAI) organization at Zillow Group is responsible for managing customer data and supporting AI/ML teams by providing reliable data.
The Data Excellence team will be a part of the CDAI organization, focusing on operational excellence, data quality, and developing new features.
About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled Senior Data Engineering Manager to lead a team of 7 to 10 contributors in building a brand new team.
You will play a vital role in improving customer data quality and AI model effectiveness by collaborating with product managers, AI collaborators, and engineering teams to develop features and frameworks that enhance data quality and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Hire and lead a team of 7-10 ICs (Software Engineers, TPM and BigData Engineers) to ensure successful project delivery.
- Cultivate a culture of Operational Excellence and Quality Obsession.
- Develop and implement long-term strategies and solutions for data quality and support across Data Engineering and MLOps.
- Maintain high standards of Software Engineering Excellence by collaborating closely with peers and team members.
- Foster strong cross-functional relationships across the organization to promote collaboration and ensure alignment on project goals.
- At least 3 years of management experience, with a proven track record of developing and leading high-performing engineering teams.
- At least 5 years of Data Engineering and Software Development experience.
- Strong knowledge in areas of Operational Excellence in Data Engineering space.
- Strong knowledge in areas of Data Engineering, including Spark, Airflow, Python, and SQL.
- Good understanding of MLOps space.
- Nice to have working experience in Databricks, Flink, Kafka, NoSQL stores.
