Role
The team is responsible for procuring all open equipment, rail, transloading, ocean container drayage, cross border Mexico van, open equipment as well as all ground transportation inside of Mexico. We work with all product groups and teams throughout the globe. We impact our customers on a daily basis to improve the world and people's lives. All transportation begins with our team as we get to shape the strategy and network to move Caterpillar forward. This role will be responsible for all ground transportation procurement in Mexico and will collaborate with our Cross Border Mexico Category Buyer. This buyer role will interact with international shipments as well as loads moving within Mexico and through to the USA and Canada.

What The Candidate Will Do

  • Manage commercial relationships with suppliers
  • Ensure contractual agreements are met and maintained
  • Conduct tactical and strategic sourcing events
  • Negotiate rates and contracts
  • Facilitate the movement of freight while adhering to our purchasing practices
  • Ensure performance of suppliers meets our contractual expectations

Education Requirement

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in transportation, logistics, or business fields.
  • Advanced English level speaking is essential.

What Skills The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Data Analytics

  • Ability to build and manage complex spreadsheets and data
  • Ability to understand and get to the root utilizing various data sources

Effective Communications

  • Able to communicate effectively with written words as well as verbal communication to various audiences.

Negotiating

  • Negotiating is at the core of building the necessary relationships to gain.

Contracts Management and Administration

  • All of our work forms at the center of our contracts and maintaining them with our carriers. Being able and willing to follow a distinct process is imperative

Purchasing Tasks and Activities

  • Must be able to follow and understand Caterpillar's purchasing practices

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Relationships are Key in transportation, the best candidate for this role will be able to build strong relationships across many different groups
  • Must be relatable to different points of view to build strong relationships while maintaining a Caterpillar Inc Enterprise point of view

Strategic Sourcing

  • Implementing our overall strategy at a tactical level will be key to building an outstanding ground transportation network

Top Candidates Will Also Have

  • Master's degree in Transportation, Logistics, or Business.
  • Background in Transportation operations

Additional Information

  • This position will be located in Santa Catarina.
  • The work schedule is set for Monday-Friday 7am-4pm.
  • Domestic relocation is not available
  • Traveling International/Domestic at 25%. VISA is required.
