As EHS Governance Manager, you will be part of the EHS Organization, and your role will be to support the Regions in a global environment.
The EHS Governance Manager is responsible for defining, deploying, and maintaining an effective governance framework across Projects, Services, and Manufacturing activities within the GSI Business. The role ensures alignment with business strategy, compliance with internal policies and external regulations, risk management, and consistent execution of standards across regions and operational entities.
This position plays a key role in driving transparency, accountability, and performance while supporting operational teams in delivering safely on time, on cost, and in full compliance.
ProfileEducation & TrainingsMandatory
- Master's degree in engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field or, Degree in engineering, environmental science, safety management or other EHS-related technical discipline from an accredited college/university is required. (Country EHS Accreditation is required)
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in Projects, Services, Manufacturing, or Operations within an
industrial or energy environment.
- Strong experience in governance, project management frameworks, operational excellence, or risk management.
- Solid understanding of matrix organizations and complex international environments.
- Strong knowledge of, and experience with, fundamental health & safety programs including but not limited to Lockout-Tagout, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Hazardous Chemical Management/Process Safety Management, etc.
- Experience with and knowledge of independent standards organizations and certification programs such as ISO 4001, ISO 45001, etc.
- Strong skills, to influence and motivate leaders and employees through collaborative engagement and building/maintaining relationships.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate information to a broad range of people and audiences as circumstances dictate.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical reports and regulatory documents/standards, make sound judgments, and offer effective solutions.
- High level of integrity, independence, and accountability with flexibility to navigate in a multi-cultural environment.
Language Skills- Fluency in the English language is required.
- Additional language as French, Spanish, German… would be appreciated.
EHS Governance Manager, Key Responsibilities: - Governance Framework & Standards- Define, implement, and continuously improve the governance model covering Projects, Services, and Manufacturing activities.
- Ensure clear definition of roles, responsibilities, decision rights (RASCI), and escalation paths.
- Develop and maintain governance policies, procedures, and guidelines aligned with business objectives.
- Compliance & Risk Management- Ensure compliance with internal policies (EHS, Quality, Finance, Ethics & Compliance, Cyber, Sustainability…) and applicable local regulations.
- Monitor governance-related risks, ensure mitigation plans are in place, and track their effectiveness.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of findings and corrective actions.
- Performance & Business Reviews
- Establish governance KPIs and dashboards to monitor performance across Projects, Services, and Manufacturing.
- Coordinate and structure governance forums (management reviews, steering committees, gate reviews).
- Ensure consistent application of metrics, reviews, and approvals across the organization.
- Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key interface between Business Leadership, Operations, Functions (Finance, EHS, Quality, Legal, HR), and Regions.
- Support leaders and operational teams in understanding and applying governance requirements.
- Promote a strong governance culture focused on accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- To stop any activity whenever there is an immediate danger.
- To coordinate an emergency response situation in accordance with the Sites Director Directions.
- Continuous Improvement & Change Management
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies, or inconsistencies in governance practices and lead improvement initiatives.
- Leverage best practices and lessons learned across Projects, Services, and Manufacturing.
Tasks & Responsibilities- Provide support to GSI legal entities in respective countries.
- Contribute to the Compliance Manual development.
- Support and lead inspection programs across sites.
- Ensure rigorous follow-up of findings and KPI tracking.
- Willingness to travel up to 60% internationally.
- Ability to balance rigor and pragmatism in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Lead Business HQ audits for P&S and Manufacturing including subC, partner in complex organizations….
- Review and track audit findings, ensuring timely resolution and continuous improvement.
- Prepare and deliver KPI reporting to leadership and stakeholders.
- Coach the organization on governance standards and compliance requirements.
- Actor of critics and generator of proposal to improve internal Management system.
- Analyze project EHS Key Performance Indicators (EHS Dashboard, etc.).
- Accountable to the Organization and achievement of Audit strategy.
- Monitor Customer satisfaction survey.
