Sr. Manager Labor Relations and HR Compliance

POSITION SUMMARY
The Labor Relations and HR Compliance Senior Manager plays a key role in ensuring that the organization's human resources policies, procedures, and practices comply with all applicable labor and employment regulations. This role supports the HR team in monitoring compliance requirements, maintaining accurate employee records, coordinating audits, and implementing proactive measures to minimize risk and ensure a culture of ethical and compliant behavior. This role also supports consultations with unions and handles employee relations matters. The job title level and compensation rate will be based off years of experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop proactive employee relations strategy (including training and awareness calendar).
- Investigate and document employee relations or compliance concerns in collaboration with the HR department.
- Support HR in administering compliance-related training.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR procedures to ensure they align with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in accordance with data privacy and recordkeeping laws.
- Partner with internal departments such as Legal, Payroll, and Risk Management to align compliance processes.
- Coordinate internal or external HR audits, including documentation preparation.
- Negotiate and maintain union relationships.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment law trends and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Labor Relations, Human Resources Management, or Union Relationship roles, preferably within manufacturing or operational environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing union relationships nationwide, including the Northern, Central, and Southern regions of Mexico, with exposure to multiple union structures and dynamics
- Experience working in global, multicultural, and matrixed organizations is highly desirable.
- Solid and up‑to‑date legal expertise in Mexican Labor Law (LFT), including practical application of the 2019 labor reform and subsequent regulatory updates.
- Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain labor‑law‑compliant procedures that safeguard the organization from legal and operational risk.
- Proven capability to identify, assess, and prevent labor‑legal risks, including union conflict escalation, non‑compliance exposure, and collective dispute scenarios.
- Bilingual (Spanish & English)
Demonstrated applied technical and legal knowledge of:
- Ley Federal del Trabajo (LFT)
- Jurisprudence and legal theses
- Collective Bargaining Agreements (CCTs)
- Ability to translate legal requirements into practical actions within both manufacturing and corporate environments.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree required (preferably in the fields of Human Resources, Industrial/Labor Relations, Business, or Law)
