What You'll Do

An Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) specializing in operations is responsible for the ongoing management, maintenance, and optimization of Oracle database systems within a production environment. This role focuses on ensuring the high availability, performance, and security of critical databases that support business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Database Installation and Configuration:
  Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle database software and related components (e.g., RAC, ASM, Data Guard).
• Performance Monitoring and Tuning:
  Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies to ensure optimal efficiency. Utilize tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and AWR reports.
• Backup and Recovery:
  Design, implement, and manage robust backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity and enable swift recovery in case of data loss or system failure.
• Security Management:
  Implement and enforce database security policies, manage user access and permissions, and ensure compliance with security best practices.
• Patching and Upgrades:
  Plan and execute regular database patching and upgrades to address security vulnerabilities, improve performance, and leverage new features.
• Troubleshooting and Support:
  Provide expert-level support for database-related issues, diagnose and resolve problems, and work with other teams (development, infrastructure) to ensure smooth operations.
• Capacity Planning:
  Monitor storage utilization, analyze growth trends, and plan for future capacity needs to prevent performance degradation and ensure scalability.
• Automation and Scripting:
  Develop and maintain scripts (SQL, shell) for routine administrative tasks, monitoring, and automation of operational procedures.
• Documentation:
  Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, operational procedures, disaster recovery plans, and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaboration:
  Work closely with development teams to optimize database designs, assist in query tuning, and provide guidance on best practices for database interaction.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• Proven experience in Oracle Database Administration, including hands-on experience with various Oracle versions.
• Strong understanding of database architecture, relational database concepts, and SQL.
• Proficiency in performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security best practices.
• Experience with Oracle tools and technologies such as RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and OEM.
• Familiarity with operating systems like Linux/Unix.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional) are often preferred.
