Role summary

This position is responsible for defining and delivering AVD infrastructure architectures, leading implementation initiatives, and ensuring stable, secure, and scalable virtual desktop services for end users. The engineer will work closely with infrastructure, networking, and application teams to optimize performance, reliability, and user experience on Azure Virtual Desktop.​

Key responsibilities

  • Design Azure Virtual Desktop architecture, including host pools, images, and scaling strategies for production environments.​
  • Install, configure, and manage Microsoft AVD technologies, including pooled and personal VDI host pools, FSLogix, App Attach, and MSIX AppAttach.​
  • Manage Azure Active Directory, networking, and storage components related to AVD, including DNS, firewalls/proxy, segmentation, and storage virtualization.​
  • Monitor and analyze system performance, troubleshoot issues, and recommend improvements for AVD-based configurations.​
  • Support image creation, customization, upgrades, and host pool lifecycle (creating new host pools, adding VMs, updating Bicep code, and promoting changes from test to production).​
  • Provide L2/L3 operational support for AVD and End User Computing solutions, including patching and feature updates for non-persistent VMs.​

Required experience

  • 5–10 years of overall experience, with at least 5 years working with Azure Virtual Desktop or similar Cloud VDI solutions.​
  • Strong hands-on experience with AVD/WVD, FSLogix, App Attach, and user profile/identity design.​
  • Solid knowledge of Windows operating systems, networking fundamentals (DNS, firewall/proxy, micro-segmentation), and storage technologies.​
  • Proven experience designing, developing, debugging, and supporting scalable End User Computing and VDI solutions in cloud environments.​
