Summary:

Essentra is hiring a Plant Manager for our plastic injection molding plant in Monterrey, Mexico. The Plant Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the manufacturing and distribution facilities operations, including production, maintenance, safety, quality assurance and supply chain. This role is essential in driving operational efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Plant Manager reports to the Head of Operations for the Americas and works closely with other functional departments, including Commercial, Finance and Human Resources, to achieve business objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Operations Management:

  2. Lead the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing and distribution facilities to meet production goals, customer demand, and quality standards.

  3. Ensure optimal performance by managing production schedules, equipment maintenance, and resource allocation.
  4. Oversee inventory control, raw materials, and supply chain processes to optimize efficiency.
  5. Lead Sustainability goals for the facility.

  6. Strategic Leadership:

  7. Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with corporate objectives.

  8. Drive initiatives for continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and cost reduction programs.
  9. Set performance targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) for production, quality, safety, and financial performance.

  10. Safety and Compliance:

  11. Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, fostering a culture of workplace safety.

  12. Implement risk management and emergency response protocols.
  13. Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with both internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

  14. Quality Assurance:

  15. Ensure that products meet or exceed quality standards and customer specifications.

  16. Work closely with the Quality Assurance department to implement corrective actions and process improvements.
  17. Drive root cause analysis and resolution of product defects or operational issues.

  18. Financial Management:

  19. Manage the site's operating budget, focusing on cost control, margin improvement, and resource efficiency.

  20. Monitor key financial metrics such as operating expenses, capital expenditures, and ROI on new investments.
  21. Support profitability goals through cost-saving initiatives and productivity enhancements.

  22. Team Leadership and Development:

  23. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, empowerment, and engagement.

  24. Implement workforce planning strategies, including talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning.
  25. Encourage employee training and development to enhance skills and productivity.

  26. Stakeholder Management:

  27. Serve as the primary point of contact between regional headquarters and the facility.

  28. Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, regulatory agencies, and the local community.
  29. Collaborate with the regional leadership team to ensure alignment with broader business strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Business, Engineering, related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a plant leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Expertise in safety and quality management requirements and standards in manufacturing.
  • Proven leadership ability in managing large teams and complex operations.
  • Ability to motivate and lead others with respect while also holding them accountable to meet goals.
  • Must be fluent in both Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent financial acumen, with experience in budget management and cost control.
  • Ability to work under pressure, solve complex problems, and make critical decisions.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
