About This Role & Who We're Looking For

DORA is a 5-year-old jungle retreat village entering a key growth stage. We're looking for a hands-on, strategic, people-centered leader who can scale a purpose-driven hospitality business without losing its soul. This is not a traditional hotel GM role, it's part hospitality, part startup builder, part community leader.

The business is both high-touch and operationally complex: retreats, events, kitchen, wellness, maintenance, lodging, and brand all operate as one ecosystem. You must be someone who thrives in ambiguity, brings clarity, and enjoys building as much as running.

Your mission is to scale the business without losing its soul, protecting DORA's warmth and "village energy" while elevating performance.

This role is deeply hands-on. One minute you're reviewing financials, the next you're walking the property improving guest flow.

The team is small, close-knit, and human. Leadership here means presence, care, and communication, not corporate distance.

Top Responsibilities (5)

  • Operations: Run all core departments and elevate daily execution.
  • Growth & Brand: Drive long-term strategy, partnerships, and expansion.
  • Sales & Relationships: Oversee retreat bookings and ensure flawless delivery.
  • Experiences: Develop new programs, products, and signature DORA offerings.
  • Financial & Legal: Partner with CFO/legal on budgets, compliance, and sustainable profitability.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5–8+ years in boutique hospitality, retreats, eco-lodges, or startup operations
  • Strong leadership, financial fluency, and experience with events or retreats
  • Proven ability to scale teams, systems, and operational efficiency

Desirable
:

  • Experience in rustic/off-grid properties
  • Event production or experiential design background
  • Pre-openings or early-stage build outs
  • Familiarity with wellness, community-based, or eco-hospitality spaces

Non-Negotiables:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Full-time, on-site leadership at DORA
  • Relocation to Tulum by February, 2026
  • Hands-on, flexible, no-ego leadership style
  • Commitment to scaling with soul
