Payroll / HR Operations Coordinator
Onsite Mexico City
Who We Are
Founded in 2024, LAFA (Latin America Future Automotive) has a mission to provide better and affordable taxi-riding experience to Latin America, to accelerate EV adoption in the ride-hailing and last-mile delivery industry, first from CDMX. We tackle the biggest barriers to adoption of EV—high costs, limited financing, and range anxiety—while offering maintenance, insurance, and value-added services in an all-in-one solution.
About the Role
We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll / HR Operations Coordinator to support LAFA's fast-growing workforce. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, people-focused, and able to operate with precision in a fast-paced environment.
This is an onsite role based in our Mexico City (CDMX) office, with a structured blend of in-office and remote work.
What You'll Do
- Manage HR operations including onboarding/offboarding, employment contracts, digital files, and employee record-keeping.
- Maintain accurate employee data across HR systems (Nómina platforms, HRIS, internal databases).
- Prepare payroll reports, variance analyses, and cost summaries for Finance and Management.
- Coordinate benefits administration, including social security, leave tracking, vacation accruals, and employee questions.
- Ensure timely and accurate compliance with government requirements: IDSE, SUA, e-Firma, RFC updates, and SAT-related labor obligations.
- Support recruitment logistics: interview scheduling, candidate communication, background checks documentation collection.
- Identify and implement process improvements for payroll accuracy, automation, and HR workflows.
- Assist with HR initiatives such as performance cycles, policy updates, compliance training, and organizational development projects.
What You Bring
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- BA/BBA/BS Degree from a 4-year university, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
- 1+ years of experience in payroll processing or HR operations in Mexico.
- Knowledge of Mexican labor law, payroll taxes, social security (IMSS), INFONAVIT, ISR, and related compliance processes.
- Experience with payroll platforms (e.g., Runa, Buk, Worky, CONTPAQi Nóminas, or similar).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.

Annual Pay Range
At LAFA, we want to attract and retain the best employees and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate's skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity.
