Position SummaryThe SAP Data Migration Lead is responsible for planning, managing, and executing all data migration activities for SAP transformation projects, including ECC to S/4HANA migrations, greenfield implementations, and global rollouts. This role leads the end-to-end migration lifecycle—data assessment, extraction, cleansing, transformation, validation, and load—ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all business areas. The SAP Data Migration Lead partners with functional teams, business stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure a successful transition of legacy data into SAP.
Key ResponsibilitiesData Migration Strategy & Planning
Define the end-to-end data migration strategy, methodology, and roadmap.
Lead data scoping, prioritization, and complexity assessment across all functional areas (FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, HCM, etc.).
Develop and maintain the data migration plan, including milestones, dependencies, and resource needs.
Establish data governance and quality standards for the project.
Oversee the extraction of legacy data and mapping to SAP S/4HANA structures.
Lead data transformation and cleansing activities to ensure data quality.
Manage mock loads, trial conversions, and final data load execution.
Work with technical teams on LSMW, BAPIs, IDocs, BDCs, Migration Cockpit (LTMC), and SAP Data Services as needed.
Collaborate with functional leads to validate mapping rules, business logic, and transformation rules.
Coordinate with business owners for data validation, enrichment, and sign-off.
Work closely with integration, security, and Basis teams to support migration tasks.
Drive data migration workshops and meetings with business and technical teams.
Prepare dashboards, KPIs, and reports on migration progress, quality, and risks.
Manage risks, issues, and mitigation plans related to data readiness.
Ensure alignment with project timelines, cutover plans, and go-live milestones.
Lead all data-related activities during cutover and go-live preparation.
Ensure successful final data load and data validation in the production environment.
Provide hypercare support and stabilization after go-live.
Maintain documentation including data mapping, functional specifications, and validation reports.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and data privacy standards.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
7+ years of experience in SAP data migration.
Proven experience leading end-to-end data migration workstreams for SAP projects.
Hands-on experience with S/4HANA migration tools (SAP Migration Cockpit, SAP Data Services, LSMW, BAPIs, IDocs, etc.).
Experience with legacy system analysis and ETL processes.
Exposure to multiple functional modules (FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, HCM, QM, PM).
Strong understanding of SAP data structures and master/transactional data.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data quality assessment skills.
Experience developing migration cockpit objects, mapping templates, and load files.
Strong project management, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities.
Ability to translate technical data concepts into business-friendly explanations.
Advanced Excel; SQL skills are a plus.
