As a
People Relations Manager
in the HR function, your main focus will be to lead with a proactive approach and take ownership and accountability for securing all parts of people relations for Sales Market MX-CO-EC. Ensure local governance processes are in place, enabling risk management, compliance, and follow-up for all people relations areas. Understanding the broader business goals in your Sales Market and how people relations strategies align with and contribute to achieving those objectives. Equip HR Business Line and Business Leaders with the appropriate training, tools, and access to relevant information to be proactive in managing risk and People Relations related topics/cases.

This role reports into our HR Manager, MX-CO-EC and is based out of the Mexico City Support Office.

Job Description

A Day in the Life

Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities*

  • In this role, you will be responsible for building and implementing the People Relations strategy for MX-CO-EC and leading a team of People Relations Specialists responsible for executing the strategy

  • Set implementation plan of new and/or updated H&M Group social policies, guidelines or framework

  • Decide on local people relations plans and prios aligned with global strategy and priorities

  • Decide on local legally needed adaptations of policies and standards
  • Provide strategic and operational advice to local management and HR Business Line

  • Keep up to date on employment law to ensure compliance

  • Govern and follow up on compliance for entire Sales Market (including multi-brand and logistics)

  • Ensure local grievance process that is in line with the Global grievance policy and handle grievance investigations

  • Ensure the respect for freedom of associations for all colleagues connected to our business

  • Create a trustful relationship with employee representatives

  • Secure that Managers are fully aware of their responsibilities and have a proactive internal dialogue

  • Drive risk assessments as a tool to identify hazards in the physical and psychosocial work environment

  • Participate in risk assessments to analyze and understand events which might lead to crisis and uncertainty in the organization e.g., internal controls or geopolitics context

  • Secure that crisis is handled in accordance with Our General People Principles - In times of crisis

  • Expectation to contribute to People Relations Network​

  • Manage outside counsel for labor relations issues and other relevant vendor relationships

  • Work collaboratively with H&M Attorney's on People Relations legal matters

  • May perform other activities related to the position

  • Some domestic and international travel required

Qualifications

Who You Are:

  • 10 years HR Compliance and labor relations experience

  • Juris Doctor preferred

  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulation

  • Proven track record in developing, revising, and implementing HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations

  • Demonstrated commitment to human rights advocacy within the workplace.

  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive occupational health and safety programs

  • Communicate fluently in Spanish and English to collaborate across markets and global teams.
