Who we are

At R2, we believe that small and medium businesses are the productive engine of society. Small and medium businesses (SMBs) make up over 90% of companies in Latin America, yet they face a trillion-dollar credit gap. Our mission is to unlock SMBs' potential by providing financial solutions that are tailored to their needs. We are reimagining the financial infrastructure of Latin America, where SMBs' financial needs are satisfied without ever having to go to a bank.

R2 enables platforms in Latin America to embed financial services that SMBs can then leverage (starting with revenue-based financing). We are a tight-knit team coming from organizations such as Google, Amazon, Nubank, Uber, Capital One, Mercado Libre, Globant, J.P. Morgan. We are entering a new phase of growth following a strategic investment from Ant International, focused on rapidly expanding our partner footprint, strengthening our credit and underwriting capabilities, and scaling our operations across multiple markets.

As a Controller, we're looking for a leader who will define and implement R2's accounting and tax infrastructure. The Controller will report to the VP of Finance & Capital Markets and will interact with multiple stakeholders in different countries.

What you'll work on

  • Lead the Controllership functions at R2, including accounting, tax, accounts payable and financial control responsibilities
  • Develop and mentor R2's accounting and tax professionals to build a world-class Controllership function
  • Develop R2's accounting infrastructure and foundational systems across multiple LatAm countries, including implementing and managing our accounting software
  • Timely and accurate production of financial statements (individual and consolidated) under local and international accounting rules
  • Lead internal and external audits
  • Partner with Strategic Finance & FP&A to produce reports for the executive team, Board and investors
  • Design and implement a tax optimization strategy
  • Manage our intercompany transactions and transfer pricing operations
  • Partner with FinOps, Data, Product and Engineering to produce accurate financial reports
  • Audit our financial operations to ensure that the appropriate controls are in place
  • Be R2's main point of contact for tax and accounting advice, such as for the launching of new products and features

Who you are

  • Accounting Bachelor Degree at a top tier university
  • Experience at a Big 4 Accounting Firm or equivalent
  • At least 10 years in accounting and 5 years in coordinating accounting and tax teams
  • Experience implementing and using financial/accounting software
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and financial analysis tools
  • Experience in the financial services industry
  • Ability to lead a team and work alongside data engineers, product managers and software engineers
  • Comfortable operating in a tech-driven company
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
