Buenos Aires CDMX, México Novo Collective A tiempo completo

Work in Progress ) is a new kind of live-format art festival in Mexico City — where the spotlight is on the making, not just the outcome. Each participating artist works from their own studio on a piece of art while the studio is open to the public.

Novo Collective ) is an artist-run collective that incubates new ways of engaging the public with contemporary art. By pairing rigorous research with experimental production models, the Collective supports artists, curators, and urbanists in realising work that rethinks how audiences encounter art in everyday space. Our last exhibition was uncommissioned ), which featured all-new site specific public art in 41 cities.

Role Overview

The Director of PR & Marketing will lead all external communications, media relations, and audience growth for Work in Progress. This is a senior leadership role responsible for defining how WIP is positioned, perceived, and discovered — locally and internationally.

You will own the narrative, secure meaningful press, and drive visibility and attendance through strategic marketing, ensuring WIP launches as a serious new platform in contemporary art.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy & Positioning

  • Define and execute an integrated PR and marketing strategy aligned with WIP's vision.
  • Craft key narratives and messaging around live process, open studios, and city-wide activation.
  • Position WIP within Mexico City's art ecosystem and the international art calendar.

Media Relations & PR

  • Build and manage relationships with local and international journalists, editors, and cultural media.
  • Secure coverage in top-tier art, culture, lifestyle, and design outlets.
  • Pitch previews, features, interviews, studio visits, and reviews.
  • Oversee press lists, tracking, and reporting.

Marketing & Audience Growth

  • Develop and execute campaigns to drive attendance, awareness, and engagement.
  • Define target audiences: local public, collectors, curators, press, and international visitors.
  • Plan and manage paid and organic marketing (digital, social, newsletters, partnerships).
  • Collaborate on ticketing strategy, promotions, and conversion funnels if applicable.

Content & Messaging

  • Oversee all public-facing copy: press releases, website, newsletters, social captions, ads.
  • Ensure consistency of voice and clarity of complex curatorial ideas.
  • Work with designers and content creators to produce campaign assets.

Press & VIP Programming

  • Design and manage press days, previews, studio tours, and special walkthroughs.
  • Coordinate interviews and on-site hosting during the festival.
  • Support VIP, curator, and partner engagement through tailored communications.

Digital Presence & Brand

  • Own WIP's digital storytelling across web, email, and social platforms.
  • Align PR moments with social amplification and content drops.
  • Monitor analytics, coverage, and audience insights to refine strategy.

Partnerships & Visibility

  • Leverage PR and marketing to support partnerships with galleries, institutions, brands, and sponsors.
  • Identify year-round visibility opportunities: talks, panels, collaborations, and pop-ups.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years experience in PR, communications, and/or marketing within contemporary art, culture, fashion, design, or high-end creative industries.
  • Demonstrated success securing press and running campaigns that drive real audience engagement.
  • Strong network of media and cultural contacts in Mexico and/or internationally.
  • Excellent writer/editor with sharp narrative instinct.
  • Strategic thinker who is also hands-on and execution-driven.
  • Comfortable managing agencies, freelancers, and internal collaborators.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English (required).
  • Based in Mexico City or willing to relocate.

What We're Looking For

You:

  • Understand the art world and how visibility actually translates into cultural relevance.
  • Can make a new festival feel inevitable, not speculative.
  • Balance credibility with reach — niche where it matters, broad where it counts.
  • Have taste in outlets, channels, tone, and timing.
  • Want to build a long-term platform, not just a one-off campaign.

This is a role for someone who wants to define a brand, not just promote one.

What We Offer

  • Senior leadership role shaping the public identity of a new international art festival.
  • Authority over PR and marketing strategy from day one.
  • Close collaboration with founders, artists, and curators.
  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • Opportunity to grow with WIP across future editions and cities.
