About The Role

The Global Payroll Director provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs, developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans and practices. This role will direct an enterprise-wide payroll function. Advises on strategic plans and identifies key exposure to risks and their impacts on internal control systems for the organization.

Serves as subject-matter expert in payroll management, designs organizational policies, and leads adoption of best practices and technologies.

What you'll do

  • Establishes, maintains, and reports on process metrics and KPIs in accordance with Service Level Agreements.
  • Improves quality Year over Year.
  • Designs organizational policies and protocols for payroll administration which align with People and other organizational strategies.
  • Advises management on regulations for calculating pay, withholding taxes, and deducting benefits.
  • Provides leadership in establishing standards, processes, and best practices for payroll administration and sets standards for evaluating the effectiveness of payroll administration systems.
  • Predicts the development of new methodologies and technologies for payroll administration and leads in implementing best practices used to manage the payroll function.
  • Directs payroll tax functions and ensures compliance.
  • Defines enterprise strategy for master data and metadata requirements, sets data standards, and ensures compliance with privacy and security policies.
  • Leads evaluations of organizational operations, drives process improvements, and ensures service-level agreements are met with high quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Promotes a culture of continuous improvement through process optimization, automation, and innovation. Leads cross-functional improvement efforts and evaluates success metrics.
  • Leads problem-solving efforts for complex issues, apply diverse methodologies, and collaborates across functions to implement solutions.
  • Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
  • Financial Oversight. This position is responsible for managing the payroll department's operating budget, overseeing vendor contracts, and identifying opportunities for cost optimization while maintaining service quality.
  • Establishes strategies to improve NPS Year
  • Partners with HR, Finance, IT, and Legal teams, and serves as the primary contact for external auditors, government agencies, and payroll vendors. Effective stakeholder management is essential for compliance and operational excellence.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 15 years of experience in payroll management, including multi-state & country payroll and compliance. At least 7 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex) and HRIS integration. Familiarity with tax laws and labor regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Travel availability
  • Conversational Business English Advanced
  • Open to relocate if business requires
