Job Purpose:

The Audit Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the resolution of billing discrepancies related to freight charges. This role ensures timely and accurate responses to carrier, customer, and internal inquiries, while working proactively to prevent future billing errors through education and collaboration.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team responsible for resolving freight billing discrepancies.
  • Cross-check shipping documents, invoices, and billing records to validate charges.
  • Respond to carrier, customer, and internal requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Investigate and resolve billing errors in collaboration with carriers and internal departments.
  • Research customer inquiries to determine appropriate resolutions and communicate outcomes.
  • Educate stakeholders—including customers, carriers, sales, and operations—on proper freight descriptions, weights, and shipping procedures to prevent future errors.
  • Maintain accurate records of billing issues, resolutions, and communications.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in billing accuracy and customer service.
  • Generate reports to monitor resolution performance and identify trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in logistics, customer service, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess freight bills and identify discrepancies.
  • Knowledge of freight shipping regulations and procedures.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing billing documents.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with carriers, customers, and internal teams.
  • Problem-solving skills to resolve billing issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Proficiency in freight auditing and billing software.
  • Understanding of accounting principles related to billing and invoicing.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage resolution workflows and documentation.
