Director of Institutional Advancement

The Director of Institutional Advancement (IA) serves as the strategic leader responsible for shaping, guiding, and executing all advancement efforts for a distinguished educational institution in Mexico. This role oversees fundraising, internal community engagement, and external relations to strengthen the School's mission, reinforce its core values, and support the long-term goals outlined in the strategic plan.
Working collaboratively with senior leadership, the Director ensures alignment and coordination of all IA initiatives with academic, administrative, and operational areas. The role manages a team of five direct reports and oversees the Institutional Advancement budget, ensuring effective stewardship of resources.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, proactive, and mission-driven leader who cultivates meaningful partnerships to elevate the School's visibility and advance its position as a premier educational institution in Mexico.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of fundraising strategies that secure financial resources to advance the School's mission.
- Oversee all fundraising operations, including donor identification and cultivation, in compliance with the Ley Federal para la Prevención e Identificación de Operaciones con Recursos de Procedencia Ilícita (LFPIORPI).
- Strengthen community-building strategies across internal and external stakeholder groups to reinforce the School's Mission, Vision, Values, and strategic objectives.
- Supervise community engagement liaisons representing groups such as the Parents Association and Alumni Council ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
- Oversee and guide IA staff in the effective use of Salesforce for donor management and reporting.
- Uphold the School's Child Protection Code of Conduct, ensuring safeguarding practices are implemented, monitored, and consistently reinforced across the IA team.
- Perform additional executive-level duties as assigned by the Director in alignment with the role's scope and leadership responsibilities.

Evaluation
- Reports to and is evaluated by the Director
- Subject to an annual performance review following institutional policy and established evaluation procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and Certification Requirements
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
- Knowledge of educational institution administration, preferably in international school settings.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, development, or institutional advancement.
- Demonstrated experience in business administration and project management.
- Knowledge of Mexican laws and regulations related to fundraising activities.
- Experience working in an international or multicultural organization.
- Strong track record of self-motivation, initiative, and accountability.
- Ability to think strategically while executing with precision and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the organizational structure, culture, and decision-making processes of independent schools.
- Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
- Strong understanding of the local community and stakeholder ecosystem.
