Sr Firmware Engineer
with a strong background in hardware development to join the company's product development team. This role combines embedded systems expertise with hands-on hardware knowledge and a strong partnership across the product development organization to ensure excellence in New Product Development.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and optimize embedded C/C++ firmware for microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, PIC, AVR) to control hardware functionality, handle peripherals, and implement communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet).
• Collaborate with hardware engineers during circuit design and component selection, and inform the firmware perspective on hardware architecture decisions and tradeoffs
• Review schematics and PCB layouts to ensure firmware compatibility
• Develop comprehensive test plans and automated test frameworks for firmware validation
• Debug complex issues spanning firmware, hardware, and mechanical systems
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards (UL, CE, FCC) and regulatory requirements
• Implement diagnostic features and error handling for manufacturing and field support
• Document firmware architecture, interfaces, and design decisions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including mechanical, electrical, and New Product Development teams, to ensure successful project delivery
• Contribute to technical roadmap planning and technology evaluation

What You Need

• Experience:
  4-7 years of related experience
• Education:
  Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Technical Skills:
• Expert in MS Office, especially Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems
• Deep understanding of microcontroller architectures
• Experience with RTOS or bare-metal development
• Solid knowledge of digital and analog electronics fundamentals
• Proficiency with communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, CAN)
• Experience with NFC protocol stack implementation
• Experience with debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD debuggers)
• Understanding of power electronics and motor control principles
• Experience with safety-critical systems and functional safety standards
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Python for scripting and automation
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Physical Demands:
• Ability to sit up to 8 hours per day, with walking and standing required frequently
• Visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading documents, reports, and emails
• Repetitive hand movements for tasks like typing or assembly
• Amount of Travel Required: Up to 25% travel required
