**Electrical Design Engineer**
Baker Electric’s design team is growing We are currently looking for an Electrical Design Engineer in our Tijuana, MX office. As an Electrical Design Engineer you will enhance the profitability of the business group by providing design coordination, product development, and best practices development. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience designing electrical or solar projects and wants the opportunity to work with a top-performing electrical contractor.

**SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE**:
Education / Training / Work Experience:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Structural, Mechanical, Power, etc.) or completion of relevant design related program
- 1+ years of experience designing electrical or PV systems (Residential or Commercial) a plus
- Experience designing electrical and solar systems in the pre-sale or post-sale stage

Knowledge and Skills:

- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solidworks, or similar design software
- Ability to read one-line diagrams, understand distribution systems, perform basic calculations
- Function as an expert in knowledge of solar related equipment; panels, inverters, structures, racking and monitoring.
- Above average computer skills and ability to learn new software, such as, Accubid (estimating)
- Ability work with a team of highly focused individuals to a final goal and balance the dual needs of Sales and Operations

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

- Standard office environment. Individual will frequently be required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear. Occasionally may have to lift boxes full of materials for purposes of setup of programs, typically 25 pounds or less.

**WHAT YOU’LL DO**:

- Support the sales effort by performing initial layouts, providing technical solutions to problems that arise in project development stage, and evaluate potential buildings to determine if the project will meet the client’s expectations
- Complete design estimating and planning requests in full support of project scope, schedule, budget, and customer defined quality
- Consult with customers to gain additional project insight, and travel to project sites as necessary to ensure complete and accurate proposals are developed
- Attend pre-bid job meetings and site surveys when required
- Perform prompt accurate design work when developing new projects and modify existing designs, including establishing and maintaining schedule and prompt communication of schedule changes
- Maintain quality, reliability, and safety standards for design, which includes, ensuring all work complies with applicable federal, state, city and municipality building codes and regulations
- Identify and generate RFIs during the design, planning and construction process as needed
- Participate in company-sponsored training and identify applicable avenues of educational enhancements
- Perform constructability review of all projects prior to final design
- Follow up on design/build proposals with clients, municipal or federal groups, clarifying scope issues
- Coordinate with design team on all design/build projects
- Oversee the design process on all projects where Baker Electric is not acting as the engineer of record
- Perform site assessments as needed to evaluate existing infrastructure for prospective projects
- Develop permit drawings for submittal to Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
- Provide or coordinate final designs and aid through BIM Coordination and Project Planning
- Provide support for pre-fabrication activities
- Facilitate complete, accurate hand-offs to the operations team fully supporting their efforts in delivering a successful project
- Ensure shop drawings are representative of best practices and accurately portray how the project will be built
- Perform takeoffs and produce a bill of materials to facilitate ordering process
- Provide submittals for equipment and materials needed to complete the job per the contract specification
