**Where and how you can work**

Our flagship campus is in Sydney, Australia but we engage our Contractors and Freelancers all over the world to help us meet our crazy big goals. As a Contractor at Canva you can work remotely in the country listed on this job ad (Mexico), meaning you have ultimate flexibility. Wherever works for you, works for us. Please note, this is a 4-month contract role.

**What you’d be doing in this role**

As our Senior Art Director, you’ll collaborate closely with the Creative Director to elevate Canva’s visual presence across México. Partnering with a talented team, including copywriters and freelancers, you’ll ideate, design and execute for projects that elevate our brand — from scroll-stopping performance ads to campaigns that shape Canva’s perception in Latin America.

Design expertise is super important to the role. We’re looking for someone who can bring concepts to life with creativity, attention to detail, and a strong grasp of motion design. This role is perfect for a versatile individual with the ability to tell powerful stories through their work.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

- Leading the visual direction for brand, product, and performance campaigns, keeping every project fresh, consistent, and innovative.
- Designing simple, powerful storyboards for ads and hype reels that bring Canva to life.
- Confidently pitch concepts and present work to senior creative leaders, product marketing managers, and stakeholders, clearly articulating the creative vision and strategic approach.
- Writing with the same creativity and clarity you bring to your designs.
- Being passionate about exceptional art direction and design that’s not just beautiful but also thoughtful, meaningful, and, when it needs to be, provocative.
- Collaborating with external vendors, providing clear art direction guidance and feedback to help elevate their work.
- Working closely with the Creative Director to ensure schedules are accurate and realistic and that deadlines are met.

**You're probably a match if**
- You have proven design experience in advertising and branding.
- You have strong design skills and a solid understanding of motion design, with experience leading projects from start to finish.
- You have an understanding that spans digital design, product design, and Figma is key to ensuring that your vision is fully realised.
- You’re excited to jump on Canva to design.
- You have Native-level Spanish and strong English skills (we’re a global team, so English is part of our day-to-day).
- Bonus points if you’ve art-directed films or photoshoots before.
- This is a remote role with flexible working hours, but you’ll need to balance your schedule to accommodate occasional global team meetings in the evening (6-9 PM)
