You will partner with business leaders, OD Specialists, and Human Resources (HR) business partners to leverage best practices, build tools, training, and programs to support the overall capability of the organization. As a Principal OD Specialist, you will support OD innovation and execution as a business partner to Solar Turbines and Turbotec leaders, employees and HR Staff to implement organizational development priorities. This position acts in an influence leadership capacity to bring work climate improvement and organizational development solutions to successful completion. This position is challenged to carefully evaluate problems and review possible solutions. Problems may be complex and require the incumbent to develop multi-layered solutions. The Principal OD Specialist will support identification of internal and external resources needed to effectively implement organizational development plans and work with the customer to establish the implementation. This position develops and provides leadership, counsel and education in areas such as: diversity, equity and inclusion, change management, organization design, teamwork and group dynamics/ interactions, individual leadership development planning and general development planning input, new leader training, coaching and development, cultural change initiatives, and employee career development.
Success in this position requires frequent communication with customers, effective listening skills, and demonstrated influencing skills with organizational leaders. Understanding of organizational structure and culture, employee engagement needs within organizations, and change management methodology are foundational. As this position is responsible for executing organizational development initiatives and programs with client leaders, strong project management and planning skills are essential.
Principal Accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:- Partner with business unit leaders on work climate assessment and improvement plans, including individual feedback and coaching for leaders.- Partner with the business unit leadership team to understand business priorities and translate into integrated talent strategy to deliver and drive value for business partners-
- Design and facilitate organizational design/restructures with client leaders.- Partner with HR colleagues in the design of people processes and job roles aligned with the new organizational structures.- Consult with key leaders, stakeholders and 6 Sigma Enterprise Strategy Leaders to develop and implement effective change management plans that support organizational changes.- Partner with stakeholders to design and facilitate talent programs and processes to drive succession and skill/capabilities- Participate in meetings and manage projects across a global team, providing HR/Talent expertise and consultation to the business and HR colleagues. Flexibility with working across time zones as required- Organization Effectiveness Experience: has exposure and experience in organizational design, team effectiveness and/or change leadership practices and a desire to learn, gain expertise, and become a deep and broad practitioner- Consultative approach: listens attentively, qualifies, and clarifies the problem to solve; takes a structured approach to problem solving, while engaging key stakeholders throughout- Communication & Stakeholder management: Communicates clearly and concisely at an executive appropriate level, visually and verbally- Partnering: builds strong relationships across teams and stakeholders to bring others along and set all parties up for success- Change management: understands the principles of change management and dedicates appropriate time and effort to driving sustainable change and deeply embedding so
