**Introduction**
The world's largest fossil fuel producers are already on track to produce more than twice the amount of coal, oil and gas than can ever be burned if we are to hit our climate targets. The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative champions a new international mechanism to complement the Paris Agreement, one that would hold governments accountable for their fossil fuel production plans in an effort to advance a just transition.
**The Position**
Reporting to the Development Director, the Development Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the success of our growing global initiative. This role joins a small but very busy team in which the opportunity for professional development and advancement is high. We are a fledgling organization that has experienced tremendous growth in our three years of existence. We work in a dynamic environment in which priorities can shift frequently as opportunities and challenges arise. Flexibility, patience and a good sense of humor are necessary.
The Development Coordinator will be responsible for contributing to fundraising efforts to support the organization in achieving our mission. This person will work closely with the Development Director on the activities below but also on special projects and other activities as they arise.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Grants Management
- Drafting grant reports and assisting with writing grant proposals
- Overseeing grant calendar to ensure we meet important dates and deadlines
- Coordinating with Treaty team on fundraising deliverables
- Coordinating with funders to arrange update calls and outreach required by the grant agreement
- Drafting acknowledgements and thank-you letters
- Funder and Database Maintenance
- Keeping funder records up-to-date
- Researching new assets
- Maintaining records in donor database (currently Salesforce but likely to change)
- Running activity reports and data analysis
- Funder Outreach
- Coordinating periodic funder outreach communications
- Planning/project managing funder engagement events
- Other special projects
**EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES**
**Required**:
- A deep passion for climate justice and supporting an equitable transition to a world without coal, oil or gas
- At least 3 years of relevant experience working on a development team
- Grant management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to write persuasively and distill complex ideas into simple effective language.
- Experience with assisting in the development of large proposals and multi-year budgets
- Strong interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong initiative and motivation
- Excellent organizational skills with an ability to assess and prioritize a demanding workload
- Commitment to contributing to an anti-racist, inclusive organisational culture.
- Ability to work irregular hours and with a remote and virtual team to participate in a global initiative
- Fluency in English is required. Fluency in other languages is highly desired
**Desired**:
- Event management experience
- The ability to effectively collaborate and communicate within a hybrid working environment utilising Zoom, Google Workspace and Slack.
- Experience with Salesforce and other fundraising software and CRMs
- Experience working in the Global South
The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative is a fiscally sponsored project of Earth Island Institute. As such the Development Coordinator will be an employee of Earth Island Institute.
